SolarAPP+

Contractors can submit approved SolarAPP+ projects to the Los Alamitos Permit Center.

Before applying for a SolarAPP+ automated solar plan review, projects must follow certain requirements outlined in the Eligibility Checklist. Only projects that conform to this list are eligible to use the automated SolarAPP+ portal for instant permitting.

Submit for review through SolarAPP+

  1. To start using SolarAPP+, register and submit through SolarAPP+.
  2. A processing fee will be charged by SolarAPP+ for plan review. A Checklist and SolarApp+ ID will be generated when approved.

Apply for a SolarAPP+ solar permit

  1. Create an account and login to the Los Alamitos Permit Center.
  2. Select “+ New Application” and begin filling out the application.
  3. Select “SolarAPP+” for the Project Type
  4. Enter the applicable Owner, Applicant and Contractor information.
  5. Enter the SolarAPP+ ID in the field provided.
  6. Upload the SolarApp+ Checklist to the documents area.
  7. Review your application.
  8. Pay the required permit fee
  9. Digitally sign the permit when you receive an email request to do so.

Request inspections for a SolarAPP+ permit

Inspection requests for SolarAPP+ projects can be scheduled just like any other permit:

  1. Log into the Los Alamitos Permit Center.
  2. Click the “Projects” button
  3. Click on the SolarAPP+ permit in your Projects list
  4. Scroll down and click the blue “Request Inspection” button
  5. Fill out the required fields and click the blue “Submit” button.
  6. Please print a copy of the approved SolarAPP+ Checklist, and any other related documents, and have on site for the inspection.
  7. To cancel an inspection, please call the Building Division at (562) 431-3538.

Revisions for a SolarAPP+ permit

If there are revisions to an approved SolarAPP+ project, the revisions must first be resubmitted back through the Contractor’s SolarAPP+ account for a recheck.

If SolarAPP+ approves the revisions, SolarAPP+ will give the Contractor:
1. A revised SolarAPP+ ID
2. A revised approval checklist

Once the Contractor has the above completed, please send an email to building@cityoflosalamitos.org.  In this email please include and attach:
1. The building permit number
2. Explanation as to what changed on the project
3. Revised SolarAPP+ ID for the project
4. The revised and approved SolarAPP+ checklist pdf

Note: Plan check revisions cannot be submitted back through the Permit Center as the plan check for SolarAPP+ projects are conducted by SolarAPP+ and not by the municipality.
