Economic Development
Economic Development is at the heart of the Development Services Department. The fiscal stability of Los Alamitos and its local business community is the mission of this division that leads the City's business attraction and retention efforts. It serves proudly as the point of contact for people seeking local assistance with site selection, market and demographic information, and business resources. We are honored to be your partner as you navigate the waters of starting a new business.
Economic Development Programs
Mayor's Business Spotlight
The Mayor's Business Spotlight program is a free business recognition program designed to create awareness about the variety of local businesses located in the City of Los Alamitos. The Mayor's Business Spotlight Program is a great way for the city to say thank you, showcase great businesses in Los Al, and also provide another tool for our businesses to help them grow here in the city. The Mayor's Business Spotlight program is a two to three minute interview on camera that will premiere on our City of Los Alamitos Facebook Page and YouTube Channel. Businesses ineligible to participate in the program includes cannabis related and online food delivery services. Business Visitation Program
In effort to enhance the lines of communication between existing businesses and the city, this program allows staff to spend time with business owners discussing operations, opportunities, and challenges facing the business as well as answering any questions or concerns the business owner may have. By improving engagement with businesses, the department can identify the areas in which we can offer assistance.
