Parking Citations
How to Pay
Parking Citations can be paid in person at the Police Department, by mail, or online. If you are paying in person at the Police Department, you must pay with exact cash or a check. If you are paying online, please visit https://www.citationprocessingcenter.com/CitationSearch.aspx. If paying by mail, please send a check payable to the City of Los Alamitos to:

How to Contest a Parking Citation
You can contest your parking citation by following the instructions on the back of the ticket or online through the Citation Processing Center at the above listed website. If choosing to contest the citation in person, you will be asked to fill out our Parking Citation Review Form. Once our department receives your form, your citation will be placed on hold until it is reviewed, and a decision is made. You will receive notice of the decision within 10 business days by mail.
Penalties
All parking citations must be paid within 21 days of issuance. Parking citations that are unpaid or uncontested after 21 days will be subject to penalty increases.
Daylighting Law
Starting January 1, 2025, California's Daylighting Law (AB 413) went into effect to enhance pedestrian safety. Parking is now prohibited within 20 feet of any crosswalk (marked or unmarked) and within 15 feet of any crosswalk with curb extensions. Remember, even if curbs are not painted red, these restrictions apply. For further details, refer to this video:
