Tanya Doby

Tanya Doby has distinguished herself as a collaborative and results-driven leader in Los Alamitos and throughout Orange County. She was first appointed to the Los Alamitos City Council in 2019 and elected to full terms in 2020 and 2024, reflecting strong community support built through years of volunteerism and civic engagement. Her leadership and ability to bring partners together have also earned her appointments to several local and regional boards across Southern California.

With more than 20 years of experience in human resources and personnel development, Tanya brings a practical, people-focused approach to governance. She is known for advancing policies that are equitable, efficient, and fiscally responsible. During her tenure, Los Alamitos achieved a major milestone by restoring a fully staffed and fully funded public safety operation for the first time in nearly a decade.

Tanya is a founding member of a joint working group with the Los Alamitos Unified School District, strengthening collaboration to improve student safety and educational outcomes, including launching Safe Routes to School initiatives. She has also helped secure more than $10 million in state and federal grants to support critical infrastructure, safety, and community development projects.

A Los Alamitos resident since 2012, Tanya and her husband, Josiah, are raising their two children in the community they proudly serve. Her dedication to local schools and youth has earned her the Rossmoor Elementary School Hero of the Heart award. Tanya remains committed to advancing public safety, economic vitality, and thoughtful growth while preserving the strong community character that makes Los Alamitos unique.
