Campaign Statements

Pursuant to Government Code Section 81000, also known as the California Political Reform Act, candidates and committees are required to file campaign disclosure statements which provide detailed accounting information on money spent or contributions received in support or opposition of a candidate, campaign, or measure.  Political Action Committee statements are available for review in the City Clerk’s Office.

The City Clerk’s Office is the official filing officer for campaign disclosure statements related to elections for the City of Los Alamitos and local City ballot and initiative measures.  Additional information regarding Campaign Finance Reporting is available on the website of the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC), http://www.fppc.ca.gov.

Beginning January 1, 2021, this law requires local government agencies to post campaign statements and reports on their agency’s website, within 72 hours of each applicable filing deadline, if they are filed in paper format. If the final day of the 72-hour period is a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday, the period is extended to the next day that is not a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday. Before posting, the local filing officer shall redact the street name and building number of the persons or entity representatives listed on any statement, report, or document, or any bank account number required to be disclosed by the filer. The reports and statements must remain on the agency’s website for at least 4 years.

Please Note:  It is the practice of this office to redact certain personal information from documents posted on this website.   Addresses, phone numbers, e-mail address, and signatures have been redacted from the internet versions of disclosure statements.  Complete reporting statements are available for review in the City Clerk’s Office and/or copies can be provided for 10 cents per page.

Statement of Economic Interest – Form 700

Public officials and designated employees must file Statements of Economic Interest. Public officials are specified in Government Code Section 87200. They include Mayors, Council Members, City Attorneys, City Managers, Planning Commissioners, and persons who manage public investments. Designated employees and certain consultants who hold positions that involve making or participating in the making of decisions, which may foreseeably have a material effect on the holder’s financial interests also must file. Such positions are listed in the City’s conflict of interest code; people in these positions must file Statements of Economic Interests – Form 700 pursuant to the disclosure categories specified in that code.

The City Council Members are elected officers identified in Government Code Section 87200 and file statements of economic interests with the City Clerk’s office. Copies of the statements of economic interests filed by the elected officers may be obtained by visiting the City Clerk office or the office of the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC).  The physical address of the City Clerk’s office is 3191 Katella Ave., Los Alamitos, CA  90720. The City of Los Alamitos Council Member statements are available in the City Clerk’s Office. The City is fully committed to making the disclosure statements available to you. You may make your request via phone or in writing via email.  Requests submitted during business hours will be provided within 48 business hours. There is no charge for electronic documents.
